North Carolina Strategic Research Capacity and Partnership Initiative

$20,000

This grant will support the North Carolina Strategic Research Capacity Partnership Initiative’s (“the Initiative”) efforts to cultivate and support scalable and sustainable partnerships among government, research organizations, and philanthropy to address priority issues for North Carolina such as better health, more sustainable economic development, and overall well-being. COVID-19 has highlighted the need for more and better partnership across sectors on all types of issues, including but not limited to reentry of formerly incarcerated individuals, talent pipelines and the workforce, increasing access to broadband internet, health care, food insecurity, and education.

This grant will support the expansion of the Initiative’s state agency and college/university collaborative network, particularly efforts to share opportunities for engagement equitably with public and private colleges and universities, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Minority Serving Institutions (MSI), and community colleges.

The Initiative is intentional about using an inclusive approach to its work. By laying and strengthening the foundation for more equitable and diverse inclusion in government/research partnerships, there are positive implications for issues of importance to millions of North Carolinians.
